Digital With A Difference
McNaughton Paper Ireland has
just added a number of new
products to its digital portfolio
and in one particular
case, it has even switched
allegiance from Stora Enso back to its
recent owner M-Real. The main small format
change is the introduction of a new
toner fed product range called Silver
Image to service the DocuColor, Canon
and Ricoh SRA3 digital print sector.
Produced by Zanders, part of the M-Real
group, it is a fully coated paper and board
range running from 100gsm up to
350gsm, available in matte, gloss and
cast coated super gloss.
Paul Hopkins, digital paper manager
for McNaughton Paper Ireland spoke
about the new products. “Silver Image
will replace 4CC,” he says, “simply
because with so many new machines on
the market particularly from Xerox like
the DocuColor 5000, iGen3 as well as
the Canon imagePress C1 and C7000
printers, we needed a product range out
there to match the requirements of
these new digital presses. Production
output is also so varied these days and
the demand from printers is for very high
quality reproduction on work such as
direct mail, advertisements, brochures,
manuals, through to posters, calendars
and newsletters. We believe that the
Silver Image range provides our customers
with a quality that will match all
of these needs.”
McNaughton Paper Ireland has also
introduced another innovative digital
print product called Creazy from
Creative Packaging in the UK. Simply
put, it is a range of pre-creased media
suitable for most digital presses. The
initial range incorporates packaging,
marketing and point of sale products
such as A4/A5 folders, CD wallets,
sleeves, pillow packs, cubes and A4+
display and wine boxes. |

“It is a pre-die cut card which can be
used to make up all types of boxes or
folders, explains Hopkins. “It comes in
SRA3 size for digital printing and the
sheets are supplied pre-creased, partially
cut and perforated ready for overprinting.
Once the job is printed, all the end
user has to do is guillotine the outer
edges and fold the Creazy sheet into a
finished product.”
Lyndon Powell, Creative Packaging MD
commented, “We are absolutely delighted
that McNaughton Paper is making Creazy
available in Ireland. It is a great opportunity
for both companies to capitalise on the
uniqueness of this digital range.”
McNaughton’s has also moved to
improve the product range available for
large format with the introduction of
plastic, corry board, and packaging products
with a determined focus now on the
digital signage market.
“For example, up until now we have
only had the Symbio solvent range of
papers but we are expanding that into
vinyl and banner material as well,” said
Hopkins. “It is a serious statement to
the market about our growing presence
in this very demanding and challenging
market sector.”
