Seal works to improve profiling

Seal Graphics has developed a range of directly printable display films with a new high performance inkjet coating. It also allows you to reduce the number of colour profiles needed. You need only need one colour profile for all water-based print and another single profile for all solvent-based CA media from Seal.

Seal claims that with this new coating, inkjet printers require less ink for the same colour density. As well as better colour quality, the ink will also dry much quicker thus production times will be shortened. Alternatively, you could use the same amount of ink as you did before, making the colours look more vibrant and, therefore, covering a much greater colour gamut.

Initially, the Seal products with this new coating include a number of water-based display boards and Stoplight films. Additional solvent boards and films to follow soon.

The company has also developed a new tool to manage printer profiles simply and quickly. Called ColorBase, this is a centralised database held on the company's website that enables the easy gathering and efficient distribution of colour profiles for every popular make and model of large-format printer. Every profile is held with all its settings and parameters for detailed information about quality and speed settings using Seal Graphics media.

The database is free to users who register online. The dialog enables you to add a printer and Rip setup and obtain the relevant ICC profile. From then on the system will hold the selected profile downloads and keep them available for subsequent retrieval if necessary. You can also elect to receive updated profile information automatically by email whenever changes are made to your chosen profiles.
