DIGITAL PRINT WORLD 06
DPW, the UK’s only dedicated digital print exhibition returns to
Earls Court from 17–19 October 2006.
Now in its fourth year, Digital Print World (DPW) is
the UK’s only
dedicated digital print exhibition. Taking place six months after IPEX,
DPW will be a great opportunity to see products that were first previewed
at IPEX and which are now making their commercial launch at the show. This
year, show organisers IIR announced that for the first time, Xplor UK & Ireland,
a region of Xplor International (www.xplor.org)will be hosting educational
seminars at the show.
Xplor is the worldwide association of users and suppliers of products
and services that create, modify, and deliver customised information
using a variety of document technologies. Representing thousands of professionals
in over 35 countries, the organisation is engaged in the design, production
and distribution of variable data documents and is a specialist in the
digital printing industry.
The Xplor ‘Document University’ at DPW
06 is a series of dedicated digital printing seminars designed to meet
the needs of those
moving from graphic arts and traditional litho printing into digital,
as well as those already experienced in the world of digital print.
Four seminars over two days at the event will focus on topics including
best practice in digital print communications and successful colour.
Show visitors can attend one or more of the seminars
to build upon their knowledge of digital printing. The seminars cost £75.00
for Xplor members (£105.00 for non-members). Those who register
on or before 6 October can receive an early bird discount, reducing
costs to £55.00
for Xplor members (£85.00 for non-members). Student tickets cost
just £25.00. Register online at www.xploruk.org.uk.
Visitors to the show will also notice that finishing has a strong presence
this year with a range of equipment including punchers, guillotines
and trimmers, booklet makers, binders, folders, collators, shredders,
laminators and wrappers.
The industry’s key finishing suppliers, including first time exhibitors
Babs UK and Friedheim will be at the show, and will be joined by other
finishing exhibitors including Ark Presentation, Ashgate Automation,
D&K Europe, Duplo International, Encore Machinery, GBC Films, Graphic
Arts Equipment, Morgana Systems, PDC Presentation Solutions, Renz, Simply
Print Finishing and Watkiss Automation Sales.
Peter Morris, Managing Director of Friedheim International,
said, “We
now have a selection of equipment that ideally fits with the format of
the Digital Print World event, and that is the reason behind our decision
to exhibit this year. I’m certain that visitors to our stand who
see the machines in operation and appreciate their benefits will also
understand this decision.”
New Launches
Last year, 40 per cent of exhibitors launched new products at the show.
Here we’ve got some pre show information about some of the new
goodies on offer, but our strong advice is to give yourself enough
time to have a good look round, as we can guarantee that there will
be gems on the show floor that don’t appear here.

Colourbyte’s hot new product for DPW is ORIS Press Matcher, an
automated colour workflow that matches the colour across digital presses,
copiers, wide format printers and traditional printing methods such as
offset, flexo and gravure. It uses an advanced 4D colour gamut mapping
process to automatically convert digital files prepared for one printing
condition to one or more different printing conditions. This means the ‘look’ of
a print campaign can be precisely controlled no matter what devices are
involved.
First shown at IPEX 2006 and now at DPW, ORIS Sign Master brings expert
colour management to virtually every major output device used for signage
production, driving over 500 printers from 37 different manufacturers.

based file processing, a powerful PostScript and PDF RIP, professional
colour management tools, monitor preview, automatic tiling and rotation,

designed to combat the problems of laminating digital print, will

to use and cost-effective on-demand laminator addresses common problems
associated with laminating digitally produced printed work, such
as curling. |
The GMP-Protopic 520 - the first of its
kind - runs at a maximum speed of 15m per minute and uses GMP’s
polynex digital supermelt films, which guarantee perfect lamination
on all leading digital media. Duplo will also for the first time

such as the Lara Route Express, which KAS already sells, without
having to invest in high speed polywrappers at much greater cost.
It will handle from CD width up to over A4 with a maximum speed of
over 5000 A4 packs per hour. The poly-wrapper will have similar feeders
to the Mailmaster 465HS range, giving ultimate flexibility, because
it will be possible to purchase systems where the same feeders are
interchangeable between the poly-wrapper and envelope inserter. |
Also being highlighted is the Mailmaster Compact C4 Enveloper, an entry
level DL to C4 system, which not only provides a lower price solution,

feeders and a had feed position, with the possibility of one additional
feeder. It envelopes at speeds up to 5000 an hour, inserting up to 12mm
