ECRM INTRODUCES 2-UP, 4-UP, AND 8-UP PLATESETTERS AT DRUPA 2008 FOR CHEM-FREE PLATE OFFERINGS
(12.05.08)
ECRM will introduce the Mako 2x, Mako 4x, and Mako 8x platesetters, each enhanced with a more powerful 120 milliwatt laser diode that will not only adapt to promised chem-free plate offerings, but future violet plate technologies as well. There will also be a technology demonstration of the new chemistry-free digital plate for violet platesetters from Agfa, Azura V, in the ECRM stand at the show.
Following up on its campaign to help graphic arts professionals conserve energy and be more aware of ecological benefits (announced in early February), ECRM plans to feature three new platesetters at Drupa.
“For many printers, the advent of chem-free plate technology is a breakthrough which will enable them to enhance the ecological and economical benefits of violet CTP,” said Derek Sizer, vice president, Eastern Hemisphere Business. “The new plates require a reliable and cost-effective platesetter with the laser strength to image them. With the dominant acceptance and use of violet CTP technology, customers will now benefit from the many advantages and cost-savings of chem-free technology without having to sacrifice throughput speed.”
Utilizing the new 120mw violet laser technology, the three new platesetters help printers make a smooth transition to current and future violet chemistry-free plate technology:
Mako 2x: Suited to those making the initial transition to CTP, this system delivers two-page platesetting at a price comparable to an imagesetter. Resolution is from 1200 to 3556dpi and imaging speed is over 27 GTO plates per hour at 2400 dpi. By combining simplicity, versatility and proven imaging technology, the MAKO 2x brings maximum CTP benefits including reduced operating costs and improved quality on press to 2-page printers.
Mako 4x: This employs an auto-pinch/auto-image feature for hands-free operation after initial plate positioning. It can image formats from 228mm x 252mm (8.9" x 9.9") up to 660mm x 960mm (26.0" x 37.8"), offering resolution sets from 1200 to 3556dpi and imaging over 20 Speedmaster 74 plates per hour at 2400dpi
Mako 8x: Two, four, six and eight-page with resolutions from 1800dpi to 3556dpi can be handled at a low operating cost. The maximum format is 824mm x 1143mm (32.4" x 45.0") and production speed is up to 20 Speedmaster 102 plates per hour.
