Russians take first Fujifilm Uvistar Pro8

Moscow-based Glav Print has bought the world’s first Uvistar Pro8 being launched by Fujifilm at Drupa. The company, which specialises in indoor printing predominantly for the cosmetics, has ordered a 3m version and has already expressed interest in a 5m version sometime in the future.

The Uvistar Pro8 has been designed for the display POP and outdoor advertising markets on flexible and rigid media and is said to run in excess of 300m2/hr. It comes with a complete set of light colours to increase print quality without compromising on print speed.

The existing Uvistar is aimed at outdoor applications where the vibrancy of the inks and the versatility of the associated materials, including polyethylene, work extremely well together.  The new Uvistar Pro8 has been developed in combination with Fujifilm’s brand new Uvijet QN inks, to meet the growing demands of indoor applications, where viewing distances tend to be closer and rigid materials are more commonly used. Other improvements to the design include: an auto media handling system for rigid media; a fully automated backlit printing option; the ability to switch between four- and eight-colour printing modes; and an intuitive new operator interface. The new machine will be available from August.

Also being unveiled at Drupa is the Inca Onset S40i flatbed UV inkjet printer which supercedes Inca Onset S40.

Key new features include:

Reduced bed masking: A new 15-zone vacuum table reduces bed masking requirements for substrates thinner than 3mm. This reduces setup times and increases overall machine productivity.

UV sensor system: Printheads need regular maintenance but this varies depending on the type of substrates used and the volume of work produced. The Onset S40i’s auto sensor system constantly monitors the machine condition and informs the operator when automatic cleaning is required.

Substrate height detector: Sensitive mechanical substrate height detectors deliver accuracy and reliability to provide enhanced substrate and printhead protection.

In addition, a new Fujifilm Uvijet ink system has also been launched providing improved adhesion and finishing properties. Combined with Inca’s advanced software and the high precision ink drop placement of the Fujifilm Dimatix printheads, the end result is superb 600 dpi print quality with the option of four or six colours.

The Inca Onset S40i produces POS-quality display graphics economically at throughput speeds of up to 470m2/hr onto substrates up to 50mm (2in) thick. A choice of uni-directional, bi-directional and super high quality print modes can be selected depending on the specific job requirements.

The Onset S40i is compatible with Inca’s flexible automation system which offers customers the choice to operate manually or with semi or three-quarter automation from the same configuration. For those requiring the ability to incorporate variable data printing as simply as possible, the Onset S40i also supports Inca’s Print Run Controller (PRC) software module.
