Now in its sixth year, the European Digital Press Association has 14 member titles representing over 1m readers across Europe. Its annual awards are nominated by a technical committee made up of industry and digital print specialists, journalists and technical consultants and their recommendations are then discussed and voted upon by the EDP General Assembly.

Chris Cooke, Image Reports publisher and president of the EDP Association, said: “The 2012 awards are for products launched between 1 March 2011 - 29 February 2012 and this is probably one of the main reasons why out of 26 award categories, only 18 of them had outright winners, as many manufacturers have timed product launches to coincide with Drupa.

“The 19 very worthy winners have demonstrated that by listening to their customers and focusing investment in research and development they can continue to innovate. The products they bring to market can then truly make a difference to their customers businesses and the industry as a whole. We’re delighted to be working with our host Drupa in 2012 and congratulate all our winners in the 2012 awards. We would also like to thank all those that have submitted products for this year’s awards.”

The technical committee members include: Chris Cooke, publishing director, Image Reports, UK; Juan Martorell, founder ColorinLab Color Consulting;  Romeo Hutter, editor-in-chief, Publisher, Switzerland; Herman Hartman, editor-in-chief, Sign Pro Benelux; Steve Wicks, owner of Greenprint Consultancy representing Drupa and Lorenzo Villa, Print Consultants.

Monika Kissing, manager, press and public relations for Drupa said: "The hosting of the EDP Awards in the 'drupacube' (Halls 7.0 and 7a) at Drupa 2012 complements perfectly the theme of using printed products for communication empowered by marketing. The criteria on which the product entries are judged for the Awards reinforce the concept of the drupacube itself; to provide a 'global showroom' for innovative applications that benefit the end user, the community, the manufacturer and the environment."
