GTMS gains top safety accreditation

GTMS is one of the latest group of successful companies to join a scheme designed to help industry improve its safety record. The 25-year-old Hampshire based firm has received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practise amongst UK contractors.

Employing over 30 people, GTMS is principally involved in design and build; print production, installation and rigging; prop and set building; event production services; shopfitting; and marketing support. Specialising in the marketing, event, leisure, attraction and retail industries and with a £3.5m turnover, GTMS’s most recent clients have included major players such as BBC, Joseph and NAMCO. The company’s application for SAFEcontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business.

Phil Towle, operations director, said:  “We’ve been involved in many high profile events and installations and pride ourselves on good health and safety practices in the workplace and on site.  Being awarded this accreditation reinforces the professional standards GTMS adheres to and we are very pleased to be able to demonstrate this”.

SAFEcontractor accreditation is expected to enhance the company’s ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.

SAFEcontractor is applicable to most sectors although it is particularly relevant to food manufacture, property, facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of contract services.
