Trade printer DCL gets into wide-format with Fujifilm Acuity LED 1600

Trade printer DCL Print is expanding into wide-format by buying a Fujifilm Acuity 1600 LED.

Established as a business forms printer in the early 1980’s, DCL Print has evolved into an integrated print solutions provider offering direct mail, security print, labels etc. Demand for wide-format print has been growing according to managing director Simon Smode. “Initially, this prompted us to outsource such jobs. It soon became clear that there was an opportunity to be more competitive in this area and grow profit margins, so we started the search for a reliable, high quality wide-format device to integrate into our production environment.”

DCL Print’s partnership with Fujifilm dates back to 2007, when it bought a Fujifilm platesetter. Smode said: “We are extremely pleased with the products and service from Fujifilm, so it was an obvious supplier for us to consider when we started our search for a wide-format printer.”

He said of the choice of the Acuity LED 1600: “It can print six colours plus white and clear, and is extremely versatile in terms of material handling. This will allow us to create and promote novel and appealing applications for existing and new customers.

“As the UV inks are immediately cured, it will enable us to improve our turnaround and deliver end products quickly and efficiently. What’s more, the print quality achievable with the Acuity LED 1600 is fantastic and we can use both flexible and rigid media to produce different jobs in the most cost-effective way.”

He added: “We want to make the most of the new machine. We are planning to use flexible substrates such as films, banners and wallpapers, and we’re delighted that we can turn to Fujifilm for this too.”
