Case study from Paperlinx

Birkenhead-based Fusion Graphix has increased its production capabilities and improved workflow by investing in a state of the art CWT application table supplied by PaperlinX.

CWT is the new generation of working table designed by Patrik Johansson, the creator of the Rolls Roller; it’s ideal for mounting self adhesive onto rigid sheets, laminating films and cutting materials.

Established two years ago, Fusion Graphix has committed to investing for growth. Co-directors Martin McLaughlin and Pete Thorning recognise that expenditure on new kit that would deliver a rapid return, is money well spent; especially when it enables them to offer a faster turnaround and improved range of services to its customers.

The potential for cost and efficiency savings in all areas of production was one of the main reasons for its investment in the CWT work table. “When we were introduced to this new application table by PaperlinX, we immediately spotted an opportunity to significantly speed up our workflow process and lower our production costs,” explained McLaughlin.

“It is so easy to use, delivered immediate production benefits and we genuinely don’t know how we coped without it. We’re outputting jobs now much faster than before. To layout the board, put the print on top, lower the roller, fold it halfway and take off the backing paper, takes us a couple of minutes, whereas previously we’d spend half an hour or more.

“What’s more, once the job is lined up, it can be handled by a single operator as opposed to two - which is a significant time saving; having extra manpower is really helping us produce more in less time, which is also having a positive effect on improving our profitability,” he added.

The fact that the CWT is delivered to the customer in components for safer transport makes it much easier to install. In Fusion Graphix case, as the mounting table was to be sited on a mezzanine floor with access via a narrow staircase; this was a real value add.

The CWT is feature rich - it has a linear guide for moving the roller up and down, reducing the risk of future air leaks. It is equipped with an ergonomic handle and a extra low friction boom for smoother work; features split tempered glass which is safe and more durable in use; has adjustable feet and wheels for ease of movement and convenient side pockets for materials and storage space.
