Fespa’s Print Inspiration bus finally sets off

ESMA’s Printed Interior Decoration event, running 26-27 November 2014 in Dusseldorf, will see the first iteration of the Fespa Print Inspiration Rally bus, a transformed American schoolbus showcasing wide-format print capabilities. It had been expected to hit the road at Fespa Digital 2014 earlier this year, but the fit-out has taken longer than initially anticipated.

Spanish interior design agency Egue y Seta has used wide-format print examples within the bus to demonstrate the effects achievable. Applications include printing on glass, wood and metal, textile, soft furnishings, ceramics etc. Vendors such as EFI, Epson, Roland, Agfa and CMA imaging, as well as printers such as ARC, have contributed to the project.

Sean Holt, Fespa general secretary, will officially launch the initiative, and visitors to PID will be able to board the bus for a tour of the different printed applications. It will then go to various interior and creative events before making an appearance at Fespa 2015 in Cologne next May.

Duncan MacOwan, head of events and new media at Fespa, who spearheaded the project, said: “Print Inspiration Rally is a fantastic visual illustration of print used to decorate materials

and surfaces in ways designers and their clients may not have previously considered to transform any environment.

“We deepened our relationship with specifiers of print at Fespa 2013 in London with Creative Corner and we aim to continue this engagement with Print Inspiration Rally by taking outstanding examples of print directly to designers.
