The Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems’ (FSIS) screen and UV wide-format ink manufacturing facility in Broadstairs, Kent, has won the 2014 ‘Sustainable Innovation’ and ‘Manufacturing Champions’ awards.
Now in its fifth year, the British Coatings Federation (BCF) ‘Sustainable Innovation’ Award recognises, rewards and promotes outstanding innovations within the coatings industry that have the greatest impact on the sustainability of the supply chains in which the industry’s products, processes and services play a key role. The BCF is the representative body for the UK’s £2.8bn-a-year paint, printing ink, powder coating and wall covering manufacturing industries.
FSIS won the 2014 ‘Sustainable Innovation’ award for the company’s state of the art digital ink manufacturing plant, which was opened at the beginning of 2013, being particularly commended for the initiatives which have led to low levels of waste and high recycling figures.
The plant was also recently bestowed the ‘Manufacturing Champions’ award within the ‘Team Leader’ category. Scott Henniker and Eric Hitch, digital team leaders at Fujifilm, gained recognition for their commitment and capability to continuously improve the quality, efficiency and production performance at Fujifilm's Broadstairs manufacturing site. The award was given for the success the team leaders had in embedding best practice into their staff and further increase the level of customer service.
