Litho focused Potts Print boosts its move into large-format digital arena

Following its move into the large-format digital arena with the acquisition of Digital XL Services in 2014, Northumberland-based litho specialist Potts Print has supported the diversification by installing the UK’s first Fujifilm Acuity F flatbed inkjet printer. It has also taken an Acuity LED 1600 II.

John Conway, business development director at Potts Print - which appointed former Digital XL owners Iain McDougal and Keith McHugh to head up its new wide-format new division -  said of the latest investment: “With our established range of sheet fed lithographic, short run digital, mailing and fulfilment services, our wide-format digital print offering complements and supports our aim to become a ‘one stop’ print solutions company. We work with some powerful brands and have already completed several major projects with them that have included wide-format print during 2015. With these latest printers we can now work closely with our clients to deliver a complete project, every time, seamlessly and without compromise on quality or turnaround.”

The Acuity F, delivered just before Christmas 2015, handles sizes up to 3m x 2.5m wide, and double-sided printing on irregular or pre-cut substrates up to maximum thickness 50mm. While looking at this machine on a visit to
Fujifilm’s Advanced Print Technology Centre in Brussels, the Potts team also saw the Acuity LED 1600 II: “It was an impulse purchase in a sense,” said Keith McHugh. “This machine was not even on our radar, but we recognised its potential for running bespoke, short-runs - alongside the longer runs handled by the Acuity F. Together they are a great combination for the business.”
