Digitally printed Aran Ambitions range on exhibition at the Global Irish Design Challenge exhibition

Detta Textiles, which mixes traditional knit with large-format digital print technology, is showcasing a wallpaper/interiors textile collection called Aran Ambitions as part of an exhibition marking the culmination of the Global Irish Design Challenge.

Berni Raeside-Bell, who set up Detta Textiles, said: “I created traditional knit ‘knit-look’ patterns for digitally printed wallpapers and 100% recyclable fabrics using water-based direct disperse inks, so the whole collection is completely sustainable and is only printed on demand.

The wallpapers are printed in the UK and Ireland via the Robin Sprong website by PressOn, using digital print techniques that are environmentally friendly and ensure the product is recyclable. The fabrics are printed on demand using MTEX Digital textile printers.

The Global Irish Design Challenge exhibition, which will be at The Coach House, Dublin Castle until 27 August, is presented by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI) in partnership with the OPW.
