Signbox is awaiting delivery of a Zund S3 L1200 cutting system to automate finishing. The company has made changes to its Egham site to accommodate the machine, with space allocated next to its graphics department.
MD Mark Bartlett said of the investment: “We have found our volume steadily increasing for printed glass manifestation, wallpaper, vinyl and CAD cut graphics. Therefore, we decided to replace hand-finishing with digital cutting to increase precision, speed of turnaround and consistency in production.
“We were convinced to invest in the Zund S3 after a demo. We could see that the basic unit can be tailored to requirements but you then have the confidence to add further modules in the future."
The average production run for Signbox is over 100 linear metres. Whilst the Surrey-based company has been using routers for general sign-making, the new investment was about finding a cutter designed as such, rather than a router that can also perform cutting applications according to Bartlett.
