Cestrian takes UK’s first EFI Reggiani Pro 340
Cestrian Imaging has become the first printing company in the UK to install a fully loaded EFI Reggiani Pro 340 digital textile printer. The 340cm-wide device, which has 16 ink channels, will enable Cestrian to capitalise on growing opportunities, such as the trend for printing designs onto large-format rolls of textile.
Digital Plus installs a Jeti Mira UV flatbed printer.
Leeds-based Digital Plus has installed an Agfa Jeti Mira flatbed printer 18 months after investing in an Anapurna M3200i roll-to-roll machine.
Print industry wobbles in first quarter of 2016
The latest ‘Printing Outlook’ survey from the BPIF reveals that whilst 49% of responding printers maintained output levels in the first quarter of 2016 and 25% were able to increase output, 26% experienced a fall. The resulting balance (the difference between the ups and the downs) was -1; well below the forecasted balance of +33, and the first negative balance since Q1 2013.

World Textile Information Network (WTiN) and IMI Europe have signed a strategic partnership for co-operation in the delivery of events and intelligence for the inkjet technology and textile user community.
Industry association offers grants for UK exporters
The Shop and Display Equipment Association (SDEA) is offering grants to UK companies in the retail display industry to help them boost exports through exhibiting at EuroShop 2017 in Dusseldorf. Grants worth £45,000 are available through the association to SMEs taking on the Government’s challenge to double exports by 2020.
Acuity LED 3200R to launch at Drupa
Drupa will be the launchpad for the 3.2m wide Acuity LED 3200R from Fujifilm. The roll printer builds on the success of the Acuity LED 1600 II UV inkjet printer introduced last year, and the original Acuity LED 1600 that came to market in 2012. It will be commercially available in the middle of this year.
Final call for entries to the 2016 Print Futures Awards
A reminder that the closing date for applicants to the annual Print Futures Awards funding is 27 May. Grants of up to £1,500 are available to help pay for costs associated with training courses for a career in printing, publishing, packaging and graphic arts.
