Printer Q&A

Image Reports speaks to Stuart Barker, general manager, Weedoo Signs.

What’s having the greatest impact on your business at the moment?

An increase in projects from both new and existing clients has led to us expanding our business operations in order to scale our workload capacity.  Our parent company has recently taken on a new 30,000sq ft unit, invested in new equipment such as a new Zund machine, plus we have trebled the size of our dedicated Weedoo Signs facility in order to manage our continued growth.

Where do you see the greatest wide-format opportunities?

We are seeing a large increase in the number of large fleet or lorry graphics and vehicle wraps. This is a growing market and one that we already have a good reputation for.

What would make your day-to-day operations easier?

I don’t think they have invented cloning yet.. if they had, I could be in two places at once to organise more things!

Your favourite bit of kit is..?

Two of our Roland printers are probably my favourite right now. The XC540 and the XJ740 are both excellent quality and very versatile, yet have the added advantage of operating at relatively high-speeds without compromising on the quality of the output. They enable us to create a wide range of graphics.

What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given?

Do what you’re going to do, when you said you were going to do it.

What are you most proud of achieving?

I joined Weedoo Signs in 2011 and it’s been a fantastic journey so far; I would say my proudest achievement is in running and developing Weedoo into the successful company that it is.

What lesson does the wide-format sector need to learn?

To be continually mindful of the environment and ensuring your recycling policy is regularly reviewed and adhered to.
