Printer Q&A

What’s having the greatest impact on your business at the moment?

Material price increases as a result of the Brexit decision. Most of our suppliers have increased prices by around 10%.

Where do you see the greatest wide-format opportunities?

Generally in super-wide textiles and wall wraps for the exhibition sector. We are seeing a large increase in demand for this type of work.

What would make your day-to-day operations easier?

More manpower - or perhaps computer power - in our pre-press operation.

We are considering tools like Esko Automation Engine to help speed up our pre-production process.

Your favourite bit of kit is..?

Our new EFI Quantum 5m wide printer. The quality of output is just fantastic and it’s the only 5m wide that cuts in line in both directions. This is hugely improving our turnaround times whilst also being a fascinating machine to watch!

What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given?

Stick to your knitting. Focus on what your business does best and try to build on that.

Distractions in business are easy to come by and whilst new ideas are healthy, they can sometimes detract from your overall goal.

What are you most proud of achieving?

Re-branding the entire RAC fleet of patrol vans with a new rear and side decals. We produced and project managed the install of over 1,400 vehicles over a four week period at 40 locations across the UK.

What lesson does the wide-format sector need to learn?

You are only as good as your suppliers. We are fortunate enough to have a great network of suppliers who offer us quality service and support on products. This has enabled us to grow as a business and better meet the demands of our customers.
