We are seeing environmental disasters of near Biblical proportions around the globe, which is why change needs to happen. If you don’t make significant efforts to become greener expect to alienate customers and investors - as well as help destroy the planet.

In these shape-shifting days you need technology to help you adapt. So what exactly is it that you’re asking for?

The BPIF is looking into the formation of a special interest group for the large-format digital print community. The thinking is that there are gaps in sector information and services that the federation could help fill. Investigating the situation is Marcus Clifford, regional director for the East and South East. I asked him to expand upon the idea, and how wide-format PSPs could help - and benefit.

2020 hasn’t all been bad. We’ve seen some tremendous innovation in the wide-format digital print sector, and that goes for kit, consumables and software as well as Covid-19 related print applications. Here we applaud those we think worthy of particular appreciation.

Covid-19 has knocked everyone for six, but I’ve got to say, the IPIA has been really quick and forceful in its actions. Back in March, and together with the then separate BAPC, it produced an impact statement on the print industry for the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

All things environmental may be climbing up the agenda, but we have to face it - more needs to be done to engage with the waste industry if this sector is to really improve its green credentials.

The various virtual launches of large-format printers this year may mean some have passed you by, so here’s a reminder of the latest introductions just in case new kit is on your Christmas list!
