BAPC flags up key Budget points for PSPs

The BAPC has issued a précis of yesterday’s Budget, flagging up measures likely to most impact businesses in the industry.
It has highlighted that statutory sick pay will be made to those who choose to self-isolate, with or without symptoms of Coronovius (COVID-19) and that Contributory Employment Support Allowance benefit claimants can make claims from day one. Companies with fewer than 250 staff will be refunded sick pay payments for two weeks. Small firms will be able to access ‘Business Interruption’ loans of up to £1.2m to help with cashflow. Fuel duty is again to be again frozen. A plastic packaging tax is to be introduced from April 2020. Manufacturers and importers whose products have less than 30% recyclable material will be charged £200 per tonne.
