Coala Coversafe deemed effective against SARS-CoV 2

Results from tests at the Department of Virology in the University of Limoges on Coala Coversafe, show the transparent antimicrobial film is effective against SARS-CoV 2, the virus responsible for Covid-19.

Antalis UK made the announcement after the film’s surface was activated by Pylote technology then compared to similar control surfaces without the technology in an environment reproducing extreme conditions of use (eg grease and dirt). The results were as follows: contact of the Coala film Coversafe with the BASA strain of the human coronavirus SARS-CoV 2 induced a 1.42 log decrease in viral load after a contact time of one hour, which represents an efficiency of 96%, persisting after ten days of culture.

The film was also tested at a school, where surfaces (eg doors, self-catering tables) equipped with Coala Coversafe revealed a decrease in the total flora present of between two and four times, further demonstrating a decrease in microbiological transmission risk.

“In the context of this ongoing health crisis, we are delighted with the success of the results of these tests which demonstrate the effectiveness of Coala Coversafe against the strains responsible for Covid-19 and other microbes. This innovation allows us to offer our customers, and their clients, a solution that allows them to continue their activities with improved protection,” said Antalis product manager Mike Collins.
