CMYUK adds Epson SureColor SC-R series to its portfolio

CMYUK is to sell Epson’s SureColor SC-R series of wide-format resin ink printers as it focuses on extending its eco offering.

The SureColor SC-R5000 is Epson’s first large-format printer to use odourless water-based resin ink, allowing printed applications to be used in sensitive environments. The six-colour machine plus optimizer handles media widths of up to 64in and has a maximum print resolution of 1200 x 2400dpi. CMYUK said that pairing the green credentials of this printer with the range of eco-materials if offers means the company can provide a highly sustainable print solution.

The SC-R5000 includes a bulk ink solution of 1.5-litre ink pouches for increased printer production uptime, convenience, and lower print costs. The SC-R5000L model offers larger ink capacity with 2 x 1.5-litre ink pouches providing up to 20% savings in ink costs. In addition, an ultrasonic detector reduces the risk of printhead failure, while nozzle verification technology (NVT) automatically compensates should any nozzle become blocked.

Sue Hayward, CMYUK sales director (equipment), said of the Epson addition to its offering: “This is an impressive range. It’s already garnering a great deal of interest, particularly in tandem with our eco materials. Although this is a first for Epson, this manufacturer has been offering an industrial label press running this type of ink for a decade. Epson has engineered a fantastic product that does justice to this eco-friendly technology. The Epson UltraChrome RS inks have high scratch resistance, dry instantly, and can be laminated immediately. We’re also seeing excellent media flexibility, while the accurate media feed means consistent repeatability and diminished wastage.”

Phil McMullin, Epson head of sales, commercial and industrial printing, added: “Epson is excited to extend its partnership with CMYUK to now include the SureColor SC-R5000 printer range. CMYUK’s dramatic expansion of its sustainable material range, in combination with Epson’s new 100% water-based resin ink, offers its customers a truly eco-friendly way to produce outstanding displays and graphics.”
