MR Clipart is inviting signmakers and car wrappers to take part in a three-day, five-round car wrap competition in Vienna at the new xfair (15 -17 April). All competitors get prize packages. First round packages have a value of around 1,000 Euro while those for finalists exceed € 5,000 Euro plus various hardware. The fee to compete is 50 Euro.

Atech to make Sign and Digital UK 2015 introductions
Atech will show a number of new introductions at this year’s Sign and Digital UK show.
First is the Elitron Kombo SDC digital cutter which will be shown with a Seeker Pro System that recognises the printed images, loads the correct cutting files and the automatically proceeds with the cut. The Seeker Pro is also equipped with a projector.
Hybrid takes new Mimaki flatbed cutting plotter to Sign and Digital
The Mimaki CFL-605RT Compact Flatbed Cutting Plotter will make its first UK public appearance at Sign and Digital UK. To be shown by distributor Hybrid Services, the unit accommodates sizes up to oversized A2 and provides functions such as creasing and eccentric, tangential and reciprocating cutting. It will be shown alongside the Mimaki UJF-6042 compact flatbed printer.
HP and KBA work on 2.8m wide inkjet printer for corrugated
HP and KBA have announced plans to develop the HP T1100 Simplex Color Inkjet Web Press, a high-speed 2.8m wide simplex inkjet web press for pre-printing corrugated top liners.

Stanford Marsh has acquired Drawing Office Supplies and Photocopying (South Wales) to cement its presence in South Wales and to boost its technical equipment and consumables sales. DOS’s portfolio now includes Stanford Marsh’s full gamut of technologies such as: CAD software sales, training and support; 3D print; and graphics/signage printers, alongside wide-format media, ink and printer sales for the CAD/technical market.
Fespa announces new strategy
Fespa CEO Neil Felton has announced a new three-year strategy for Fespa, stressing “we are not just an exhibitions company”. He added: “It’s got to be about more than shows; it’s got to be about building demand for print by engaging with designers, architects, brands and marketers, and about lengthening print market opportunities for our community.”

Antalis takes educational workshops on the road
Antalis UK is running a series of Regional Digital Academy Workshops for PSPs looking to expand their knowledge of new applications. The first of these will take place in Exeter on 29 April at the Flybe Training Academy at Exeter Airport and will focus on signmaking.
