Online print kit auction site sets up shop

An online print kit auctioning site called Printlots.co.uk has begun trading. The site, founded by Stuart Bate and Duncan Lovett, will trade 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 52 weeks a year.

Fespa Digital hailed a massive success

13000 visitors attended Fespa Digital and sister show Fespa Fabric last week, a 34% increase over the last Fespa Digital event which took place in 2009 in Amsterdam. Of those who attended this year’s events around 5300 attended the show on more than one day, resulting in a total of 18300 visits. On this basis, more than 40% of all visitors devoted more than a day to the shows (2009: 32%).

Epson brings simple profiles solution to users of its Stylus Pro GS6000

Epson has developed a Media Qualification Programme to create a database of recommended substrates and optimised ICC profiles for users of its Stylus Pro GS6000. In a separate move the company has also launched a new range of substrates specifically for its inkjet technologies and products called Production Media for Inkjet

EFI Vutek GS3250r makes its debut

Making its worldwide debut at Fespa Digital was EFI’s Vutek GS3250r, a 3.2m wide-format printer offering 1000dpi resolution, speeds up to 111m2/hr, plus dual roll-to-roll capabilities.

GMG acquisition marks strategic large-format move

Colour management software solutions developer GMG has acquired Dutch-based Aurelon, a provider of technology for the processing of digital information to any media that requires accurate graphic production and output. Through the acquisition GMG expects to strengthen its presence in the large-format print production market. 

Virtu evolves with Quantum printer series

Polytype used Fespa Digital to show-off the evolution of its Virtu printer range with the addition of a ten-picolitre printhead. Its incorporation into the new Virtu Quantum printers provides varied droplet sizes to ensure improved resolution and optimised ink coverage.

Fujifilm launches Uvistar II 

Fespa Digital saw the launch of Fujifilm’s second-generation Uvistar superwide format printing series. The Uvistar II, in combination with Fujifilm’s Uvijet QK inks, is particularly suited to producing superwide format print for both display POP and outdoor advertising markets without experiencing any loss in production. 

Eco-UV S ‘elastic’ ink ups versatility of the VersaUV printer series 

A new formulation of UV-curable ink that enables prints to be stretched up to 220% has been developed to extend the capabilities of Roland’s VersaUV family of printers: the LEC-300, 330, 540 and the recently launched hybrid LEJ-640. 

Spandex expands roll-up display offering 

Spandex has added 16 new designs to its 300 series of roll-up displays. The range now encompasses a range of sizes capable of displaying graphics up to 2000mm x 2145mm and with a choice of fixings and extra features such as integral pole storage and tensioning systems.  The new models offer a choice of display casing- single roller banner, removable cassette, double roller banner and single/double roller banner combined.

Mike Ryan joins Danwood from Litho Supplies

Following the recent announcement by Litho Supplies of its partnership with Danwood, Mike Ryan has joined the Danwood group as sales manager, reporting to graphics and production systems division sales director Martin Dean with the responsibility to help develop the Litho Supplies’ digital print presence within the graphic arts marketplace.

IPIA sponsorship highlights print’s green growth

Print waste management company J&G Environmental will sponsor this year’s Independent Print Industries Association (IPIA) conference being staged in Leeds next month. It will be the first time the conference will have been sponsored by a company providing specialist environmental services to the industry.
