Barbieri to show new measurement tool at Fespa Digital 

Barbieri electronic has said it will present new spectrophotometers specially designed for large-format printing applications at Fespa Digital next month.

Avery extends its film range

Avery Dennison is revamping and adding to its Avery Digital Cast Films range. Top of the list is the introduction of Avery DOL Overlaminates, Avery DOL 1460 Gloss and 1480 Matt, which have been formulated to deliver the high levels of conformability demanded by challenging three-dimensional applications. 

Neschen to reveal new display media and textiles at Fespa 2011

At Fespa Digital expect to see various new products from Neschen. New to its Display Graphic Solutions range are a light-blocking print media solvoprint/printlux nolite 360, solvoprint/printlux PP nolite 210 and solvoprint/ printlux nolite 165 as well as solvoprint/printlux citylight superior for light boxes. 

BAF Graphics wins contract for graphics at MediaCityUK

BAF Graphics has won the visual communications contract for the BBC’s new offices at MediaCityUK, Salford Quays. Working in conjunction with fit-out specialist Overbury, BAF will produce and install all graphical and visual communication elements required for the offices which over three buildings with a total of 20 floors. The graphics will cover both wall and glass panelling areas within the office space.

EskoArtwork to showcase design-to-print-to-cut solutions at Fespa Digital 

Hands-on demonstrations of i-cut Suite, ArtiosCAD, Studio and Kongsberg digital cutting tables showing how to eliminate bottlenecks from digital sign and display production will be at the heart of EskoArtwork’s stand at Fespa Digital next month.

Fespa to see substrate additions from Guandong

Guandong Italia will use Fespa 2011 to introduce a number of new substrates to the European market. These include Cotton Canvas and Polyester Canvas (both gloss and matt), suitable for dye-pigment inks and for UV printing. A new full polyester backlight and light stop have been added to its Plastic Collection and a 350 micron magnetic film for digital printing joins the Magnetic Collection. New to the Banner Collection is Intercast.

Millharbour Digital investment halves production times 

Millharbour Digital, based in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire has seen production times fall by over 50% after installing an Acuity Advance HD 2545W with white option from Fujifilm. The digital print supplier, which provides graphics for well-known blue-chip companies, supported its roll-to-roll equipment with the flatbed machine in early January.

Alexander Boyd buys Esko Artwork Kongsberg XP24 

Northern Irish display producer Alexander Boyd bought an Esko Artwork Kongsberg XP24 digital cutting table from Digital Print Innovations (DPI) at Sign and Digital UK. The company augmented its investment with a software package for full control of the machine, which sports a speed of 100m2/hr across a table area of 1.68 x 3.05m for cutting, creasing and milling.

Seiko to build on ColorPainter offering

On the back of the Sign and Digital UK preview of the six-colour Seiko ColorPainter W64S comes news that we can expect to see other new Seiko ColorPainter printers coming to market this summer. It is understood that the 64in wide machine will start shipping in June and a 54in wide version will follow in September

Tay-Cad makes massive savings with HP latex printers

Shetland-based Tay-Cad has saved over 300 man-hours in printer cleaning time alone since installing two HP Designjet L25500 latex machines last year. Managing director Mark Fuller said the 60in wide unit installed last March, together with a 42in machine installed in July, were not only enabling the company to provide a greater range of graphics to an extended customer base, but were saving significant amounts of time and money.

Hollywood Monster has won the ‘Best Wide Format Printing Company’ in the first ever Sign and Digital UK awards. Category winners were announced at a prize giving ceremony last night where another nine companies took plaudits.

Agfa Graphics addresses 5m market with Jeti 5048 UV XL

Following the launch of the Anapurna M1600 UV printer and the European debut of the Jeti 1224 HDC FTR (high definition colour/flat-to-roll) machine at Sign and Digital UK this week Agfa has confirmed that it will also be adding the 5m-wide Jeti 5048 UV XL UV curable printer to its offering.

Speedscreen shakes on Durst deal 

At Sign and Digital UK Durst formalised the handover of the Rho 320R 3.2m wide roll-to-roll UV inkjet printer being shown on the stand to Tim Hill, managing director of Speedscreen in Kent.

2011 manufacturing debate to take place in May

The 2011 National Manufacturing Debate will be held at Cranfield University on 24-25 May, focusing on job creation and regional balance. The main debate takes places on the second day.
