BPIF calls out for training input

The BPIF is calling on PSPs to help it get the new Level 2 print operative Trailblazer standard right.

The federation’s programme director Ursula Daly said: “This level 2 reflects a large number of workers in print, often the backbone of the factory, and it is important that we get this right and that is why we need you to provide us with your input.

In May 2019, the BPIF secured final approval for the Level 3 print technician standard. In July 2020, it received confirmation that the employer-led submission to develop a new apprenticeship standard for a Level 2 print operative had been successful.

The BPIF, working with the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE), has now started to build the content for this new Level 2 standard, which follows the same format as the print technician and has three options - pre-press operative, press operative and post press operative. Central are a list of duties - effectively a job description - and a list of the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) that a successful apprentice would be expected to have.

To provide input email Daly at: ursula.daly@bpif.org.uk by 22 January 2021.
