designmaker 2013 seeks out creative projects

‘Make me smile’ is the theme for the designmaker 2013 competition which will end in a winners’ presentation on 7 November at Viscom in Düsseldorf.

designmaker 2013 focuses on the point of interaction between creative specialists, technicians and producers: seeking out designs that can be implemented on a wide variety of materials. Applications for participation are open until the end of August to creative specialists of all kinds.

The design must work in a total of ten different ways: for digital printing as a full car wrap, in a light box, on glass, as a roll-up banner, via print and cut systems as a silhouette film sticker and floor film, as a textile transfer, direct textile print and all-over transfer print on T-shirts, and for promotional products (a mug, a ballpoint pen and flip-flops). Participants supply the appropriate layout and the practical realisation on the different media will be taken care of by Viscom.

The three best designs - which will be chosen by an expert jury made up from the partners, sponsors and the media - will be presented at Viscom in a special exhibition. All winners will have the opportunity to explain their designs to the exhibitors, visitors and trade press. In addition, the best design will receive 3,000 Euro in prize money, the second prize carries 2,000 Euro and the third 1,000 Euro. Additional non-cash prizes from the sponsors will also be awarded.

The designmaker is run by Viscom organiser Reed Exhibitions Deutschland together with Potter Werbeagentur, Karl Gröner and creative collection Verlag. The competition is supported by Hewlett-Packard Deutschland and silver sponsor Complott Papier Union.
