Mimaki to double production capacity

Mimaki plans to double production capacity having seen a 9.5% increase in turnover according to the chairman, A Ikeda, speaking at Fespa 2015, where the company introduced new printers and also confirmed it would have a 3D machine commercially available in 2016.

While the company has seen growth in all three of its business sectors – sign/graphics (up 7.4%), industrial (up 24%), textiles (up 29%), the latter is of particular focus in terms of R&D, with further new launches planned for Itma later this year.

At Fespa 2015 the new 1.8m dye-sub TS300P-1800 was in the spotlight, a 1.8m wide roll-to roll transfer paper printer due to start shipping in July. It runs at up to115m2/h for 4-colour printing (62 m2/h with 6-colour printing).

The printer has four printheads with a total of 3200 nozzles and up to three different drop sizes, automatically determined by ink type and print mode for accurate dot placement even with high head gap printing (adjustable from 2 to 7 mm). A Nozzle Recovery System is inbuilt and the printer comes with the new Tx3Link Rip.

A small-format flatbed cutter, the CFL-605 RT, was also introduced at the show. And the company also announced that it has received the Greenguard Gold certification for inks, such as SS21, LX101, LH-100, LUS-150 and LUS-200. “This certification offers us, our customers and the general public peace of mind and extra assurances that our print solutions are entirely suitable for a wide range of applications, including those in schools, healthcare or similarly sensitive environments,” said Mike Horsten, general manager marketing EMEA at Mimaki Europe.
