The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) in the US has convened a working group to address colour standards for digital printing. It includes representatives from Fujifilm, Mimaki, Mutoh, Ricoh, 3M and Nazdar among others.

Ricoh has released more info about its new Pro TF6250 UV flatbed, which will be showcased at Sign and Digital UK alongside its new Pro L5130/5160 latex printers and Ri 1000 direct-to-garment printer.

Epson is promising two new large-format printers will be unveiled at Fespa Global in May, but is for now remaining tight-lipped on the detail. There is also an expectation of new commercial printable materials, including faux leather, and of new photo papers for users of Epson T series and P series machines. The Epson stand will be production focused but include examples of work produced by university fashion and textiles students.

Ricoh has added the Ri 1000 to its direct-to-garment printer range.   Appearing at Fespa in May, the new CMYK plus white machine is faster than the Ri 3000 it replaces, and has an enhanced resolution of 1200 x 1200dpi. Users can switch between multiple styles of platens up to 406.4mm x 508mm - anmagnetic mechanism enables the platens to easily snap on and off without the need for additional tools.   A new pre-treatment liquid means the Ri 1000’s is suitable for 100% light polyester and polycotton blends.   For maintenance tasks that aren’t automated, the device’s 7in touchscreen display provides smart alerts notifying operators when to perform manual maintenance tasks.

Roland DG has launched the TrueVis VG2 series 64in and 54in wide-format eco-solvent inkjet printer/cutters that will de demonstrated at Sign and Digital UK 2019 next month.
