CMYUK has opened a dedicated premises to produce its material sample binder following recent additions to its range. The binders showcase 80 printable materials – covering laminates/adhesives, décor/design, flooring, textile - and are a key reference resource for customers.

Swift on the heels of its MBO, self-adhesive materials manufacturer Metamark has appointed Jean François Carric as European sales director. It has also taken on Claire Clark as marketing manager.

Caldera, MS Printing Solutions and JK Group are now part of Dover Digital Printing, a newly formed operating company within Dover’s engineered systems segment. The intention is to leverage synergies by bringing together the software, printing equipment and inks of the three companies while allowing the individual brands to continue to serve their traditional customers as independent operations.

The Recycling Association will be a key sustainability partner at this year's Label and Print exhibition at The NEC 28 February - 1 March. Association chief executive Simon Ellin will be part of a panel discussion, chaired by Prismm Environmental managing director Mike Jackson, and will talk about where new innovations will come from and what the current challenges are within the recycling industry. The panel debate will take place noon-1pm on 28 February on the Eco Pack Stage.

Epson partner Colourbyte has delivered the UK’s first SureColor SC-F9300 dye sublimation textile printer to WPAPS, a personalised product fulfilment business that offers a print-on-demand service of bespoke and branded products. The new printer will be used to produce polyester-based products that include cushions, pillows and towels.

A report on report on the proliferation of UV and LED digital printing technologies has been produced by Hop Industries. It highlights the advantages over more traditional printing methods, such as offset and flexo, and looks at sustainability factors driving PSPs towards the technologies.

The latest ‘Printing Outlook’ survey shows 40% of printers increased output levels in the final quarter of 2017 whilst 21% experienced a decline. Whilst the forecast for Q1 is subdued, it is not unduly so for the Q1 period according to the federation. 37% of respondents predict they will increase output levels in Q1, 38% expect output levels to hold steady and rest expect to see a fall.

Durst has unveiled its P5 wide-format inkjet printer technology and launched the flatbed P5 250HS, the first in a series that will include the P5 200HS, 320 and 200. The flagship 250HS will start shipping in April, followed later this year by the 200HS and 320 (roll/rigid hybrid). The 200 will be introduced soon after. “This is best in breed technology utilising all our years of knowledge and responding to customer requirements,” said CEO Christoph Gamper at its launch on Thursday 8 February.
