Folex has launched a roll-up material with a textured anti-reflective look to the surface that also provides scratch resistance and gives the impression of a laminated print. The ink receptive coating - suitable for eco-solvent and solvent inks – is said to have an absorbent coating structure for faster ink penetration. The film is also perfectly suited to latex and UV ink printing.

Signs Express is increasing the start-up package contributions for new franchisees. The announcement was made at the network’s annual convention at the Hilton Deansgate Hotel in Manchester, where it was celebrating its 25th anniversary of franchising. Managing director Craig Brown also used the opportunity to set out plans for the coming years, including investment in staff and infrastructure to grow the support available to franchisees.

Premier Paper has teamed up with customers, the Woodland Trust and TV’s Julia Bradbury to plant 3,000 trees at Heartwood Forest in Hertfordshire. From its launch to beginning of 2017, Premier’s carbon capture programme has raised over £500,000,000 for the Woodland Trust.

AXYZ International will hold an open day in north London on 24 January. It will be held at the Royal Air Force Museum in Edgware. The main focus of the event will be on the upgraded AXYZ Trident hybrid CNC machine. Specialty paper manufacturer Felix Schoeller group will be increasing the prices of all its paper products from 1 January 2018. It cites escalating prices for raw materials, especially the two most important ones - pulp and titanium dioxide - as the reason for this move.

Sophie Matthews-Paul, the veteran print technology and communications consultant, has died at her home in Herefordshire, UK. Diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in January of this year and given a six-month prognosis, Sophie had a peaceful departure, in the presence of her son, James. She was 68 years old.
