Landa has hosted 100 invited PSPs/packaging companies from around the world at its facilities in Rehovot, Israel to see the progress it has made with its S10 Nanographic printer since Drupa 2016. Invitees also had a chance to see the first Landa press at a live production site at Graphica Bezalel, the Israel-based folding carton, packaging and label convertor beta-testing the machine.

The latest statistics from the British Coatings Federation (BCF) show subdued confidence in the UK coatings industry with companies taking a more pessimistic view on the outlook for printing inks, paints and coatings sales in the remainder of 2017. The Federation’s Business Confidence Index is now at its lowest level since the survey began in 2012 with BCF attributing much of this to the uncertainty caused by Brexit.

At the SGIA show in New Orleans (10 – 12 October) Nazdar will show the new 705 Series UV Inkjet Ink – a plug-and-play inkjet ink designed for use specifically with HP FB500 and 700 printers as a direct replacement for HP 250 Series inks. It will also show its other latest products including the Nazdar 203 Series and 730 Series inkjet inks.

Mutoh Belgium has a new MD. Kenji Yasuhara takes over the responsibilities of Akio Kotake who has been leading the operation for the past three years and has now been appointed general manager, sales operation department of Mutoh’s international business headquarters (IBH) in Tokyo.

EFI has reported record second quarter revenue of $247m for the period ending 30 June this year - a 1% rise on the same quarter in 2016. GAAP net income was $2.8m, down 47% compared to $5.2m for the same period last year. Non-GAAP net income was $25.5m, down 4% compared to the same 2016 period. Cashflow from operating activities was $24.1m, up 5% compared to $22.9m during second quarter, 2016.

Mimaki is bringing out two new roll-to-roll LED UV print-and-cut solutions - the UCJV300-160 and UCJV150-160. The former is is a four-colour machine while the latter can accommodate up to seven colours. UK distributor Hybrid Services will host the UK and Irish debut of the machine at The Print Show in October, and both will be available in the last quarter of the year.

Canon has updated its imagePrograf range of large-format inkjet printers with the new iP TX-2000 (24in), TX-3000 (36in) and TX-4000 (44in). The series also includes MFPs - the TX-3000MFP T36 and TX-4000MFP T36, both with scanning capability. The TX machines use newly developed Lucia TD pigment ink and include updates to the ink system, printhead and mechanical platform.

Now available from Zund is a PCD polishing bit for finishing acrylics. The new P201 has a 16mm long polycrystalline diamond cutting edge and is suitable for polishing any kind of routed edges and grooves upwards of 6mm wide.

This month will see Leeds-based WAE Group installing a second Longier grand format printer, two years after installing the first. The new RU 3200 3.2m roll-to-roll printer follows a Longier Hunter FP-3750 LED flatbed, both sourced through QPS. The latest machine has been adapted to include a unit that lifts fabric from the bed, a necessity that has grown since the first Longier was installed in 2015.
