The Russians are coming

The Russian manufacturer of a new 2 x 3m UV flatbed printer called the BigPrinter UV2133SW expects to open a European sales office in the UK in 2010. Vermena Goda has just started production of the six-colour-plus-white machine which uses an ink recirculation system developed in conjunction with Industrial Inkjet (the Cambridge-based official distributor and technical support centre for Konica Minolta industrial inkjet products). This is designed to ensure the pigment particles always remain in suspension, providing depth to the printed image and the ability to print directly onto dark media.

New 3M non-PVC vinyl to reduce environmental impact

A new non-PVC film for medium-term indoor and outdoor graphic has been developed by 3M. Controltac Non-PVC Graphic Film is 100-micron film and designed for piezo inkjet, screen and electrostatic printing processes. When these involve UV or latex inks as opposed to solvent-based ink formulations, 3M says VOC emissions are greatly reduced.

Xerox widens technical printer line?

The new 6605 is the eleventh wide-format printer to come out of Xerox in the last two years. The black and white device is aimed at commercial printers wanting an affordable mono option as well as at architectural, engineering and construction companies.

Screenprint Productions buys Meital 302

As part of its investment in new premises and kit Yorkshire-based Screenprint Productions has bought a Meital 302 industrial UV flatbed printer and Esko Kongsberg cutting table.

Portuguese printer on the right track with HP latex printer

B2R of Lisbon, Portugal, in association with Quiosque das Ideias, a company of the same group, has used its newly installed HP Designjet L65500 latex printer to produce indoor and outdoor 'eco' friendly graphics for 52 Portuguese railway stations.

Wedding books focus of first Roland metallic inkjet printer installation

Dublin-based Sigma Print and Media has bought the first of Roland's new DG XC-540MT wide-format metallic inkjet printers unveiled at Sign and Digital Ireland. The unit, which can print silver in addition to the regular CMYK and white to create a spectrum of metallic colours, will be used by Sigma to add another dimension to its bespoke wedding and photo book offering.

New additions to Epson's Stylus Pro family

Epson has launched two new additions to its Stylus Pro wide-format ink-jet printer family with the introduction of the SP7700 and SP9700. At 610 mm and 1.12 m respectively, these machines feature the company's latest MicroPiezo TFP print-head and variable size droplet technology.

Viscom Italy saw the international launch of the Neolt AsterJet 1650 wide-format UV-curable ink-jet printer which incorporates Xaar's binary Proton 360 x 1440 dpi print-heads and is available in four- and six-colour options.

Official launch for Roland's metallic ink

Roland DG (UK) Ltd has launched its innovative SOLJET PRO III XC-540MT wide-format inkjet printer which features, for the first time, a metallic ink capability. Printable either as a special colour or in combination with process options, the company's latest development provides users with the opportunity to create a range of metallic hues, including gold, silver, bronze and pearlescent effects, which were hitherto impossible with this medium.
