PFI Sign Solutions takes Jetrix RX3200

The first day of Sign and Digital UK saw PFI Sign Solutions buy the newly launched Jetrix RX3200 off the InkTec Europe stand where it was being introduced to the European market.

The eight-colour 3.2m UV roll printer will be installed at the company this coming Monday, making it the second installation of the machine in the UK and the tenth worldwide following its launch at SGIA last autumn. The much anticipated 5m-wide RX5000 will make its official show debut at Fespa in May.

Darren McMurray of the Altrincham-based signage specialist, said of the investment: "The biggest appeal for us of the Jetrix RX3200 was to be able to enhance our offering to meet the ever changing demands of our business, particularly in producing superwide signage by adding a reliable 3.2m roll-to-roll printer. Currently, we have two Jetrix 2300 flatbed printers, so we knew the build quality and technology was excellent."

Available either as a four-colour (CMYK) or eight-colour (CMYK Light Cyan Light Magenta Light Black and Light Yellow) printer, the RX3200 uses 16 Konica KM series (14pl) printheads for output resolution up to 1440dpi. Print speeds are up to 169m2/hr in production mode – 36m2/hr in the best quality setting. Features include an easy winding system for heavy media and an automatic nozzle cleaning function. The larger RX5000 will cost about 25% more than the RX3200.

Sign and Digital UK also saw the debut of the five-colour UV-curable InkTec Jetrix KX6, a 2.4 x 1.2m flatbed that can print up to 55m2/hr using dual CMYK plus four white channels. Its bigger brother the KX7, with speeds up to 60m2/hr, will be on show at Fespa 2015.
