Verve Display buys Oce Arizona 480XT

Harlow-based Verve Display has bought an Oce Arizona 480XT from Canon. It joins another two Arizona’s at the company, where it will be used to help meet a new three year contract to deliver O2 graphics.

“It’s not hugely about capacity but about having the right kit to move forward,” said managing director Simon Perkes. “The timing with the O2 contract works well, but we don’t really know what we’ll end up doing with it yet because there’s just so much capability, especially with the white ink. With that we can almost sell it as a design option.”

The company, which already has a Zund cutter to handle output from the two existing Arizona printers, is now looking into increasing its finishing capability with the introduction of the additional machine, which replaces a fourth Arizona.

The 2.5 x 3m flatbed Oce Arizona 480XT has eight ink channels - inc. varnish and white – and can print up to 34.2 m²/hr.

Perkes added: “The creative aspect of having machines like this means you can get in to speak with people you might not otherwise reach. We spent six months developing a pack that shows the capability of the kit we have and I do presentations with designers and agencies using that. The possibilities get them excited, and you end up winning their basic work off the back of that too.”
