SGIA shows-off print career opportunities

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) will exhibit at the USA Science and Engineering Festival Expo in Washington DC this coming weekend to get print career opportunities in front of youngsters.
The SGIA will be among more than 500 organisations at the biennial event, designed for children and their families. “It’s extremely valuable for SGIA to engage and showcase career opportunities for younger generations, from kindergarten to college,” said Johnny Shell, VP, print technology and training, SGIA. “The USA Science and Engineering Festival Expo is just one of several educational workforce development initiatives we participate in to support the future of the industry.” The SGIA will teach attendees how to print T-shirts using dye-sub or direct-to-garment technology with materials and equipment donated by Epson, Fruit of the Loom, Sawgrass and Stahl. More than 350,000 attendees are expected at this year’s event, which is free for attendees with donations accepted. The event’s speakers, interactive exhibits and 25 stage shows will cover a variety of topics for all ages, and will include a career pavilion with more than 70 colleges, universities and companies highlighting internships, mentorships and afterschool programmes.
