Simpson Group invests £250,000 in Tharstern MIS

Simpson Group has spent £250,000 on a new MIS system from Tharstern. The MIS is the second significant investment for Simpsons since its management buyout in February this year - in the summer it installed an Inca Onset X3 flatbed printer. Together the purchases have cost over £1.25m.
Giving the company an increased visibility of the overall business functions and performance, the Tharstern MIS will allow Simpson Group to manage its operations more efficiently. The intention is that through bespoke automated workflows, the system will enable the Tyneside company to automate repetitive and mundane tasks and so free it up to work on more customer-focused activities. Also, because of the system’s ability to track production, Simpson’s can improve turnaround times, allowing it to price more competitively.   Anthony Dixon, project manager at Simpson Group, said: “After extensive investigation and value mapping of our current processes, we reached the conclusion that to enable us to achieve the levels of automation we are striving to reach, we needed to partner with an MIS provider that shared the same passion towards workflow integration. Ultimately, our customers will benefit from us being able to return enquiries quicker and the improved scheduling should highlight to our teams when we have excess capacity, which could potentially result in orders being turned around even faster.”   Washington-based Simpson Group specialises in PoP print and currently employs 100 across its North East site and a satellite southern operation in Langley.
