The Esko Software Platform has been confirmed as compatible with new Ghent Workgroup PDF Output Suite version 5.0 – which in turn ensures workflows are fully compliant with PDF/X-4.

Landa has revealed its 2017 beta customer line-up. First shipment of the Landa S10 Nanographic Printing Press will take place in July 2017 to Graphica Bezalel, an Israel-based folding carton, packaging and label convertor. In November Landa will North America’s first Landa S10 Nanographic Printing Press to Imagine!, a US-based provider of POP solutions. In December Edelmann, a German-headquartered packaging company, will become the first European beta customer for the Landa S10.

The next Sign and Digital UK 2018 will take place at the NEC 24 - 26 April 2018. The organiser said over a third of the floorspace – across halls 17 and 18 – has been rebooked following the 2017 show last month. That event was attended by 5,350 unique visitors, plus 298 revisits. 

New from Mutoh is the 64in-wide ValueJet 1604WX (VJ-1604WX) dye sublimation printer. Delivering typical production speeds up to 22m²/h at 360 x 1080dpi (three-pass), the machine will print on common dye-sublimation transfer papers and can handle 2in and 3in core rolls. It comes with a stand, a non-motorised roll-off system and a motorised winder system for media rolls up to 30kg.

Version 3 of Zund Design Center (ZDC) - Zund's plug-in for Adobe Illustrator that lets users create packaging and displays with just a few mouse clicks - is now available for download. 

Agfa Graphics has released StoreFront 4.0. The Cloud-based Web-to-print software now features responsive stores, a ‘save for quote’ functionality and packaging algorithms for cost-effective shipping. A new packaging type has been introduced for posters, banners and alike types of signage - these products can now be combined on a single packaging roll.

At Sign and Digital UK Roland DG showed – for the first time in Europe – a product from its subsidiary from InClix called Creative Media Maker 

Lampe Textiles owned Squid will make its Fespa debut in May with a window film of the same name. Already known among interior designers and architects in an unprinted format, the self-adhesive, transparent, woven fabric can be applied directly on to windows or walls and it can be printed by various methods.

At Fespa 2017 com2C will present caleidoscop branded media for backlit projects, including the new speciality textile BacklitTex 195 OVESS SM W RF. The satin-gloss backlit polyester is being marketed kink-free substrate that prevents ink cracks and white showing through after folding, and that is almost predestined for folded shipping and use in aluminium frame systems.

Canon UK has opened its new showroom, The Centre, in Birmingham. The facility will provide demonstrations of a least 14 of Canon’s top print devices as well its software. Devices include the Arizona 1280GT UV flatbed printer. Third third-party finishing devices are also at the centre.

Feldmuehle has added high basis weights to its VivaCardrange of high-white, matt SBS boards. VivaCard C1S, which was previously available in 220 - 330gsm, is now also available in basis weights of 350 and 380gsm. The VivaCard C2Srange, previously available in 200 – 330gsm, has been expanded with three new basis weights - 360, 380 and 410gsm. 

Mactac will show various new media at Fespa 2017, including a chrome wrap with a matt surface. The new TF 900 FlexChrome BF series is available in ten chrome-finish colours, and delivers an effect Mactac said can best be described as “where liquid meets metal.”

‘Self healing’ films, which eliminate small scratches, will also debut.
