President to continue precedent

Gerald White, CEO of Berforts Group, has become BPIF president, replacing Tony Garnish. The move follows the BPIF’s recent announcement that Charles Jarrold will take over as CEO in January.

“The management team and board members are now very strong and ready to deliver the next phase of development,” said outgoing Garnish, who has served the BPIF for almost three years.

White has been involved in the printing industry since 1992 running SME companies in the commercial, DM, book and journal sectors. He previously trained as an accountant but left the profession to further his career in the manufacturing sector and was the financial director of a PLC defence company based in Suffolk before settling on a career in the printing sector. He is now the CEO of Berforts which has businesses in Hastings, Stevenage, Eynsham and Kings Lynn.

He said: “I am excited about taking on the role of BPIF president. This is a period of change for the industry and the BPIF, and I feel I can add value by encouraging an understanding of the views and problems of member companies of all sizes. The important thing is to continue the good work that has gone before. Kathy [Woodward - former CEO] had such a positive impact on the BPIF as an organisation, and we need to ensure this momentum is kept going. I hope to be able to assist the new CEO in delivering to our members an excellent service”.
