Epson will put its Monna Lisa industrial textile printer centre stage at Fespa 2018 in a bid to show customers a migration path. “There is a thirst from PSPs for diversification, a willingness to find ways of giving customers even more products that will communicate the brand or the corporate message,” explained Richard Barrow, senior product manager. “Broadening the range is a way of adding value to the services they provide to customers and cementing the partnership, leaving no hole for an alternative supplier to fill.”

Mid West Displays has introduced an acrylic scrappage scheme aimed at the responsible recycling of used acrylic window and interior displays. The acrylic display manufacturer will take away the displays and ensure they are recycled, and has confirmed that none will end up in landfill. The move is in reaction to growing concerns over the environmental impact of plastic.

Canon is to show end-to-end wide-format production solutions at Fespa 2018. A prominent highlight of the stand will be demos of the Océ Colorado 1640 roll-to-roll printer, built on Canon’s UVgel technology. Two printers show applications from domestic and commercial decor to self-adhesives, with near-line finishing using technology from Canon partner Fotoba.

William Smith has added to the Vion monomeric calendered digital printing film range with VP3000-02 VF - which incorporates V-Flow air release adhesive.

New from Aslan is DFP 06, a transparent digital printing film with ultra-tack adhesive. The polymeric plasticised self-adhesive film has a silicone release liner and is double sided PE-coated for optimum moisture and temperature stability. It is suitable for use with solvent, eco-solvent, latex, UV-curing inks as well as screen printing inks.

Onyx Graphics has used the International Sign Expo in Florida to hint at the next major release of its software, available for Onyx Thrive and Rips. According to company president Kevin Murphy: "This upcoming release promises to disrupt wide- and grand-format printing with next-level performance, colour, and output that print service providers can prove to their customers."

Massivit 3D Printing Technologies has brought out the Massivit 1500 3D printer aimed directly at diversifying print businesses. The system will be on show at Fespa 2018 in May.

Fujifilm will use Fespa 2018 to focus on two new high-end platforms - the Acuity B1 modular system previewed at Fespa 2017, and a new system to be announced in April. Watch this space!

HP has announced its Latex R Series for rigid printing. In conjunction it has also brought out a Latex white ink. Both will get a full launch at Fespa 2018 and become available in Q3. Details are being kept under wraps until closer to the show in May.
