A new Digital Corrugated Experience has been developed for the Fespa Global Print Expo 2018 in Berlin, 15 - 18 May. It is expected to address all the elements involved in printing corrugated materials, including: substrates; workflow solutions; digital printing technologies; materials handling; primers, inks, coatings and varnishes; and cutting and folding. 

Gregory Bilsen, president and CEO of Roland DG Central Europe, has been promoted to president, Roland DG EMEA and charged with driving growth in the region. Belgian-based Bilsen, who will now handle both roles, reports to Eli Keersmaekers, president of global sales and marketing, and executive officer at Roland DG HQ.

EFI has used its Connect user conference in Las Vegas this week to debut several new EFI products. These include the Vutek HS HS125 Pro and HS100 Pro Fast-4 hybrid flatbed/roll inkjet printers that offer a range of 4-colour grayscale modes - with speeds up to 225 boards per hour - and the Vutek FabriVu 340i soft signage printer, said to provide a lower cost of entry into the market by offering fully integrated inline sublimation without compromising engine speed or quality.

IMI Europe has moved its spring technical Inkjet Development Conference to Frankfurt and announced its events programme for the year. These include the Inkjet Summer School 2018 in Ghent in June and Digital Print Europe 2018 in the autumn.

A new customer support portal and online documentation centre, called CalderaDesk, will give Caldera users and partners access to a range of tools, including tutorial videos and information about Caldera training, an interactive community forum and a library of Caldera support documentation. Login credentials will be provided to accredited users upon application.

PermaJet has won ‘Best Professional Inkjet Paper’ for the fifth year at The Societies of Photographers Trade Awards. The gong was for FB Gold Silk 315, having been voted for by hundreds of photographers.

BASF has increased the price of its UV resins (Laromer product range) in the EMEA region by 3 - 10% depending on product type. The price hike for UV-resins - used for UV-curable inks, varnishes and coatings - takes place with immediate effect, or as existing contracts allow. The company said the continued increase in raw materials prices as well as Reach registration costs are the cause.

Hatch is introducing five new roller banner materials. They comprise a 1500mm x 2000mm, a 1000mm x 2000mm, A3 and A4 products, plus a 800mm x 2000mm Ebony version of its standard offering. The latter has a matt black finish.
