Spring earmarked for first of Canon’s Uvgel large-format printers
Spring 2017 has been earmarked by Canon for the release of the first roll-to-roll printer using its newly announced UVgel printing technology. According to Jeppe Frandsen, executive VP industrial and production solutions, Canon Europe, this is a “revolutionary and game-changing new technology that addresses the limitations of eco-solvent and latex printing by enabling more ink to be jetted onto media more quickly.”
HP acquires Samsung
HP has acquired Samsung Electronics’ printer business in a deal valued at $1.05bn in a move to reinvent the $55bn copier industry by replacing the technology with MFPs.
OKI invites creatives to enter its ‘Print My Ride’ wrap competition
OKI has supplied a new livery for Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship driver Mat Jackson’s car, printed on the new OKI Colour Painter wide-format printer. The wrap covers the entire car - a first in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championships. Jackson’s car sported the custom-made wrap over the weekend at Silverstone and can be seen again at the Brands Hatch GP 1 – 2 October.
Agfa clinches SGIA gongs
Agfa Graphics has won three ‘Product of the Year’ awards at SGIA Expo for the second year running. The new Anapurna H3200i won in the UV hybrid category ($100-500k), the Jeti Mira won in the UV flatbed ($200-500k) category and the Jeti Tauro won top honors in the UV hybrid high volume production category.
