Smurfit Kappa sponsors Wigan Athletic FC

Smurfit Kappa has become a sponsor of Wigan Athletic Football Club. The new deal will see the company’s branding appearing on the back of the 2019-20 season home and away kits.

The club - fondly referred to as ‘The Latics’ - will be playing in the 2019-20 Sky Bet Championship which gets underway next month. Wigan Athletic executive chairman, Darren Royle, said of the deal: “To partner with a world-renowned business such as Smurfit Kappa is a great opportunity and major coup for Wigan Athletic. Established in 1932, Wigan Athletic plays at the DW Stadium in Wigan, which is located in the Greater Manchester area. The Smurfit family has roots in the North West of England and is a long-term supporter of the club.
