New GQA NVQ’s for print
The long standing Awarding Organisation (AO) is the first to offer new QCF NVQ qualifications tailored to the print industry.
Mick Clayton, acting CEO for GQA qualifications said: “The qualifications have been designed to enable candidates within the print industry to gain credit for their levels of competency within the workplace. They have been developed for the print industry by print professionals and give clearer guidance on what is required to prove knowledge and competence than any other qualification before. Although we are new to the print industry, we have worked with experts from the field to complement our expertise in developing new generation qualifications and making them available for training and assessment centres to offer.”
The QCF NVQ qualifications replace NVQs and are vocational qualifications based on the candidate's competency. The Qualifications and Credit Framework provides a simple but flexible system of awarding credit for qualifications and units, allowing learners to gain qualifications at their own pace.
The seven qualifications on offer are approved by Ofqual (the regulator of general and vocational qualifications in England) and supported by Proskills, the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the UK print industry.

GQA Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Machine Printing (QCF) - 600/0607/9
GQA Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Print Finishing (QCF) - 600/0523/3
Tom Bowtell, from Proskills commented: “The larger awarding bodies seem to have moved away from supporting niche occupations such as those in the print industry. GQA has always supported candidates and the industry regardless of its size.”
