Pyramid Visuals quick turnaround to free artist Ai Wei Wei banner

Pyramid Visuals was given just three days to manufacture and install a 9m x 6m mesh banner across the front of the Lisson Gallery in London to highlight the plight of artist Ai Wei Wei, an artist whose works were being shown at the gallery when he was detained by the Chinese Government without public reason, or with contact with his lawyers.

“Using Google earth as a tool to familiarise ourselves with the building’s architecture, we were able to determine the most effective installation solution for this specific challenge. Our client sought consent from Westminster Council, and we were given the green light to wrap the building,” said Pyramid’s Justin Murray.

A HP Scitex XLjet 5m printer was used to digitally print the artwork onto the PVC mesh material. The banner was finished on a Millerweld Master the following day. From here, Pyramid Visuals’ rope-access team took over and installed the banner at the gallery.
