Two Sides launches European and US print media sustainability survey

The Two Sides campaigning organisation is to undertake a ten country survey, conducted by research specialists IPSOS, to discover how consumers across Europe and the US feel about the sustainability and importance of print and paper today.

Two Sides director Martyn Eustace, said: “This will be a comprehensive look into how users of print and paper, in all its manifestations, feel about our industry’s sustainability. We’ll be examining consumer attitudes towards important issues such as forestry and recycling as well as enquiring about user media preferences in a world which is fast becoming digital. We’ll see if there are any significant differences from country to country and also how different age groups perceive the role of print and paper in a multi-media world.”

“Previous surveys”, said Eustace, “have revealed that there remain serious consumer concerns about forests and recycling. Our industry has not yet got across its good sustainability record to the public. Forests are actually growing in Europe by 1.5m football pitches every year, and current recycling rates are now close to 70%.”

The survey will be completed by the end of October and the results will be publicised and used to address consumer concerns in the next phase of the international Two Sides campaign.
