Digital print media specialist Soyang Europe is calling for entries to the ‘Wide-format Project of the Year’ category of this year’s BSGA British Sign Awards. It is the second year running that Soyang has sponsored the award. The closing date for entries is 4 September 2015, with awards being presented later in the year at a ceremony at the East Midlands Conference Centre.

Watford-based exhibition and event project management specialist Rocket has bought an MTEX 5032 3.2mdirect-to-textile printer. It complements the company’s existing solvent and UV print solutions, which include a 5m GS5000R, two QS 3200, and three Mimaki JV33-160 machines, several of which were added at the beginning of 2015.

Agfa Graphics has released version 3.0 of StoreFront, its Cloud-based Web-to-print workflow system designed for the Asanti and Apogee markets.

Becoming a Berger Textiles distributor is paying off for CMYUK according to consumables manager Michael Crook, who said the company has “seen steady growth over the first two years with an increased accelerated growth of just over 100% in the last 18 months.”

Callprint is recruiting sales staff, support personnel and project managers for its Middle East operations. The newcomers are being sought for the company’s Dubai hub and for a second planned site in the region. Potential sites are being considered in Doha and Abu Dhabi.

Mirri, a division of Celloglas, has appointed a new business development manager in the shape of Mark Askham to help grow its POS involvement. He is currently working on a new range of products designed specifically to cater for POS projects.

Coleshill-based Sign & Graphics Services (SGS), a family-run business in the West Midlands has now taken the medium to new heights (quite literally!), with investment in a Mimaki JV150-160 solvent printer.

In a significant strengthening of its presence in the North American and Latin American markets, Xaar, the world’s leading inkjet technology specialist, has appointed Don Whaley as Director of Sales, Xaar Americas. In addition, the company has also opened a new sales and support office in Texas.

Mimaki has announced a joint development with ESKO to simplify digital packaging production for companies that produce packaging samples and mock-ups, as well as small packing runs and personalised packaged goods.

A number of inks within Fujifilm’s Uvijet UV range for wide-format print applications have received the Nordic Ecolabel certification. Produced at the Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems (FSIS) manufacturing facility in Broadstairs, and inks concerned include Uvijet KI, KV, OZ, OB, OL, OW, QN, WH, WI and LL.
