The dates for Sign and Digital UK 2016 have changed. The show will now run 19 - 21 April, a week earlier than originally announced. The switch has been made to accommodate what the organisers are calling “an exceptional demand for stand space.” The 2016 event will run in Halls 17 and 18 of the NEC as it did this year.

A third of all participating PrintIt! students would consider a career or an apprenticeship in the print and paper industries according to the latest annual survey undertaken by Proskills, the programme coordinator. The survey, undertaken by students before and after participating in the PrintIt! initiative, shows that 73% think the print industry is one that requires modern technology and skilled employees. Two thirds of the teachers involved in the programme said that PrintIt! gave their students a better insight into the career possibilities in the print and paper industries.

The next Newtech event takes place at the Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club in Durham tomorrow and Wednesday ( 9 - 10 June).

Callprint has acquired of the business operations of Manchester-based PPS Print Communications. The company has also taken on all five members of the current PPS staff, and confirmed that the business will continue to run uninterrupted and service its clients as PPS, as well as acting as a Manchester hub for Callprint’s operations in the north. It will convert into being a full Callprint operation in the next three months.

Babywise, reputedly the UK’s largest manufacturer of baby changing mats, play mats and high chair liners, has completed an order for 40,000 printed PVC changing mats for supermarket giant Aldi using Roland wide-format printers equipped with Lightbar solvent-UV ink technology.

The data is in for Fespa 2015, which attracted 23,137 individual visitors. In total there were 43,775 visits, including repeats, over the five days of the show in Cologne in May, an increase of 17% compared with the previous flagship Fespa event in London in 2013.

A new display board is available from 3A Composites. Dispa, composed of the two words ‘display’ and ‘paper’ is fully recyclable and has an embossed paper core. The structure that forms the central layer of Dispa lets air flow through to ensure flatness even when conditions are challenging.
