Irish-born textile designer Berni Raeside will showcase her debut collection of and digitally printed cushions, laptop and ipad cases, and tote bags at the British Craft Trade Fair in Harrogate later this month under the brand name Detta Textiles. This follows the launch of Raeside’s www.Ilovetextile.com site that offers digital photo printing onto various home furnishings and accessories.

Branding and events giant Icon has acquired SPS Event Tech, the Edenbridge, Kent-based end-to-end solutions provider for the retail, events and exhibitions markets. SPS, with which Icon has worked for many years, will continue to be run on a day-to-day basis with existing staff by former owners Paul Tanswell, Justin Lock and Richard Pye, who will report to Icon chief commercial officer Mark Savage.

Last week’s Sign and Digital UK event has been hailed a success by the organiser following a 12% increase in visitor numbers over 2014, and with more than a third of the 2016 show floorspace already booked. The NEC, Birmingham-based event drew 6,800 unique visitors, plus 350 who visited on more than one day (awaiting audit).

Avery Dennison has added CMYK ink printing capabilities to its TrafficJet 1638 Printer, meaning it can now print those plus spot inks at the same time. This will allow the addition of custom graphics or logos to traffic signs and the ability to create commercial signs on both reflective and vinyl graphics media.

At Fespa Brett Martin’s flagship Foamalux PVC range will be expanded with a 24mm thickness Foamalux White and 19mm Foamalux Xtra. The company will also introduce Marpet-a FS aPET, a new range of high optical grade polyester sheets.

The first day of Sign and Digital UK saw PFI Sign Solutions buy the newly launched Jetrix RX3200 off the InkTec Europe stand where it was being introduced to the European market. 

Harlow-based Verve Display has bought an Oce Arizona 480XT from Canon. It joins another two Arizona’s at the company, where it will be used to help meet a new three year contract to deliver O2 graphics.

Roland DG (UK) has been giving Sign and Digital visitors demonstrations of a new Rip and print management solution for Mac OS X operating systems driving a Soljet Pro 4 XR-640 printer/cutter. 

Coala Supertack, supplied by Antalis UK, has been used to transform a holiday apartment complex into a tropical statement piece.
