Antalis UK is running a series of Regional Digital Academy Workshops for PSPs looking to expand their knowledge of new applications. The first of these will take place in Exeter on 29 April at the Flybe Training Academy at Exeter Airport and will focus on signmaking. More regional dates will be finalised shortly and cover topics like colour management, framing and vehicle wrapping.

Iggesund Paperboard is inviting designers from all over the world to participate in a learning experience. From those who apply, 20 will be chosen to join the Iggesund Design Experience in Sweden in June this year.

A printable floor graphics film that does not need additional lamination will be shown by Aslan at Fespa 2015. The film, which fulfills the requirements of the non-slip safety class R 13, will be shown alongside three new glass decoration films with air release channels for an easy dry application.

The Printing Charity has paid tribute to print stalwart Victor Watson who died 25 February. CEO Stephen Gilbert said: “A titan of the printing industry, Victor Watson worked tirelessly on The Printing Charity’s behalf.”

Sign and Digital UK will see the launch of a new InkTec bulk ink filling system that it claims could save printers up to 65% on ink costs. It will be available either as an open floater cartridge, where ink goes directly to the printhead, or a closed ink pouch system suitable for printers where the ink goes to the printhead via a sub tank (bag) from the cartridge and for printers with vertical positioned cartridges.

Distributor CMYUK has officially opened its new showroom and demonstration suite in Shrewsbury following a £1.3m investment in the new building and the printing/finishing kit it houses. Councillor Beverley Baker, Mayor of Shrewsbury, was at the opening, which follows nine months of planning and preparation for the move that director Jon Price called “a strategic necessity”.

The worldwide launch of Industrial Inkjet Ltd’s (IIJ) XYPrint 300 system will be at Fespa 2015 in Cologne this May. Live printing will be carried out over the five days of the show on the XYPrint 300, an inkjet system for process development, print research, direct product decoration, material deposition/additive manufacturing and low-volume production.

Canon Europe has signed a distribution under which it will market, sell and support 3D Systems’ 3D printers, including the ProJet 1200, 3500 series, 4500, 6000 and 7000 in the UK and Ireland, with a view to rolling out across Europe.
