Fuchs Lubricants’ new van, with new Silkolene cycling branding was seen by millions when it took part in the Yorkshire stages of the Tour de France. The vehicle wrap was fitted by Cipher Graphics of Stoke which has recently expanded into this market.

Following a year’s beta testing of Fuijfilm’s thermo forming UV-cured inkjet ink Uvijet KV, French sign and display printer BMA can now produce personalised light industrial applications with its Fujifilm Acuity Advance Select UV flatbed printer.

Xennia Technology has launched a range of sublimation inks called Xennia Corundum for polyester fabric inkjet printing using both coated and uncoated transfer papers. The ink can be used with Kyocera and Epson printhead based systems.

CMA Imaging's Contract Proofing System, built for Epson 4900, 7900, and 9900 models, is the first to be certified to Gracol 2013 with M1 Measurement in the Idealliance Proofing System Certification Program. The M series of measurement illumination conditions, defined by the ISO and CGATS, allows colour management of optical brightening agents used in substrates to be refined.

Soyang Europe has been appointed UK distributor by Intercoat, a division of AMC which produces large-format print media at its facility in Kaltenkirchen, Germany.

Pack Expo International in November will see the first showing of an inkjet-based packaging solution developed by BDT Media Automation, a maker of B2 format feeders in digital printing, inkjet printhead developer Fujifilm Dimatix, and Phoseon Technology, that produces UV LED curing solutions. The solution will feed, align, print, cure and stack.

EFI has acquired personalisation and automation software company DirectSmile. The Berlin-based operation will broaden EFI’s customer offering in relation to data-driven digital print, Web, e-mail, social media and mobile marketing workflows. EFI is currently incorporating DirectSmile technology into a new variable-data printing product that will make its debut at the Graph Expo tradeshow in Chicago, 28 September – 1 October.

Inkjet reproductions of 200 of the Western world’s greatest paintings have been brought together in an interactive exposition in an old warehouse in Rotterdam, Netherlands. ‘200 Greatest Paintings’ includes works from 80 different museums, and by more than hundred artists.

Kodak and Brand Management Group (BMG) have jointly developed a range of inkjet media for solvent, latex and UV-curable printers. BMG has a trademark licensing agreement for Kodak’s wide-format inkjet and professional inkjet media lines that it markets through a worldwide distribution network, Colourgen being BMG’s main distributor for the Kodak-branded wide-format media in the UK.

MIS developer Tharstern has undergone an MBO. Managing director Keith McMurtrie, technical director Antony Lord and sales director Lee Ward are behind the deal, which has been supported by a combined debt and equity package from Mobeus Equity Partners.

The inaugural Fespa Africa (formerly Sign Africa), held 2-4 July 2014, attracted 5,460 visitors from Africa, with an 11% increase of attendees from outside South Africa compared to Sign Africa 2013. The exhibition attracted visitors from nearly 40 countries, with the top five countries represented outside of South Africa being Botswana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
